The Chargers took on the Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) Blue Devils on Sunday for a Northeast Conference (NEC) matchup. After a close fight, New Haven fell short 1-0.
New Haven came out strong to start the match, with two shots in the first eight and a half minutes of the game. Despite the strong start, the Blue Devils were able to find the back of the net with CCSU’s Emma Gupta, who scored the only goal of the night.
The second half of the game was a defensive battle, with neither team able to score. New Haven senior goalkeeper Caitlin Daley held it down throughout the game, coming out with eight saves compared to CCSU’s five. On the offensive side, the Chargers totaled 11 shots on the day, with shots on goal from Grace Simpson, Caitlyn Toom, Janayah Body, Lola Wood and Laya Coppola. The Blue Devils also tallied 30 shots.
New Haven now has an overall record of 0-8 and are 0-3 in the NEC. The Chargers will take the field at home for another conference game against the Saint Francis University Red Flash on Thursday. For more information visit www.newhaven.com.
