After a 5-1 loss against SFU, the Chargers hosted the Le Moyne College Dolphins for a conference matchup and tied, 3-3.
Le Moyne put New Haven to the test as they took eight shot attempts in the first period. Giuliano Michitti struck first for the Dolphins within ten minutes of play, off an assist from Vito Kreuzpaintner. Le Moyne’s offense continued to fire as they took a trio of shot attempts but were unable to reach the back of the net. Ryan Kipness shot the first attempt for the Chargers followed by Lorenzo Garbarino and Valerio Del Mastro but could not put any points up on the board for New Haven. The Chargers goalkeeper, Alessandro Bizzini, had two saves at goal as the team entered halftime.
Within five minutes of the second period, the Chargers’ Lukian Lawro scored a goal from an assist by Andres Lazo. In a quick turnaround, Lazo secured another assist when Andrew Buchanan shot past the Dolphins goalkeeper, Wyatt Dupell, and put New Haven in the lead. After a series of corner kicks and shot attempts from both teams, Felix Ludemann scored the Dolphins second goal off an assist from Kreuzpaintner.
The Chargers took control of the game again when Joao Pires secured New Haven’s final goal of the game. With less than two minutes remaining, New Haven’s defense could not keep up with the persistent Dolphin offense as Francesco Pagano scored the tying goal off an assist from Antonino Pagano.
New Haven finished the game with a total of 12 shot attempts, three of which were on goal. Le Moyne took 16 attempts with 10 on goal. Bizzini finished the match with seven saves, and the Chargers tallied 13 fouls.
After the draw, the Chargers have an overall record of 4-5-4 and 2-2-2 in conference play. The men’s soccer team will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to face the Long Island University (LIU) Sharks. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Brooklyn, NY.
