The Chargers hosted the St. Francis University (SFU) Red Flash on Friday for a conference matchup. Despite the home field advantage, New Haven fell short 4-0.
The first goal from SFU came at the 12-minute mark from the Red Flash’s Sofia Marciano. The second quarter of the game went scoreless, but St. Francis added another goal in the third, accredited to Emilee Myers. Marciano added the third and fourth goals for the Red Flash in the last quarter.
Freshman goalkeeper Anne Marie Martin started for the first time in three games and had a standout performance in goal. Martin stopped 21 out of the 25 shots she faced, a career-high for the first year.
The Chargers had five shots on goal, compared to the Red Flash’s 25. Forwards Emma Beaujouan and Brynna Courneen totaled two shots on goal each, with Jalia Cooper adding one. New Haven also collected 23 fouls on the night, while St. Francis had 47.
The Chargers are now 0-13 overall. They will host the Mercyhurst University Lakers on Friday, Oct. 31 at 12:00 p.m. For more information, visit NewHavenChargers.com.
