Though Born Free was originally scheduled to be released on September 7, it is now going to be out at music retail stores on November 16. Kid Rock explained during an interview on billboard.com that “the songs can change any day now. I still don’t know if it’s going to be two albums or just a 14 track album.”
The album will feature an all-star guest list of talented artists from various genres, including T.I, Martina McBride, Zac Brown, Sheryl Crow, Trace Adkins, Bob Seger, and Uncle Cracker.
Born Free will be produced by legendary Rick Rubin who has worked with other acts, such as Metallica, Beasties Boys, Linkin Park, AC/DC, Johnny Cash, and Limp Bizkit.  Kid Rock decided to write his eighth album for the city of Detroit about the economic problems they have been experiencing for quite some time, especially with their unemployment rate that could potentially rise up to 50%.

“Watching everything go downhill the past few years, the economy, the loss of jobs everywhere,” Rock said on www.rttnews.com. “I wanted to make a record that reflected the times, but that still had soul.”

Also, Born Free will include Metallica’s James Hetfield and the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith playing guitar and drums on seven of the albums tracks.  However, there can be more songs added before the November 16 release.
