First, I have to mention the ton of snow we got last week and probably the ton of snow that we are getting this week since it never ends! But even with all that snow, the delays, and closings, SCOPE still put on some great events. Those people that did go out in the snow to join us had a great time at the movies and at the great events put on by Weekend programming.
As always, because I hate changing things up, let’s start with Film. The first movie of the semester was Social Network, which had Jesse Eisenberg and Justin Timberlake. This was a fantastic film that told the story of a Harvard undergrad that thought of and designed Facebook, which we all know and use today to connect with and keep in touch with our friends. Like any brilliant person, the Harvard undergrad had his ups and downs, and the movie portrayed it beautifully. A little different this week, Film is showing a comedy featuring Robert Downing Jr. and Zach Galifianakis. Due Date will be playing in Bartels on Friday at 9 p.m.
This past weekend was full of really enjoyable events, and if last weekend was good, you can expect this weekend to be even better. On Friday, Weekend Programming brought Matthew James, the Hypnotist, to Dodds Theatre. Students had a good time either being hypnotized or watching their friends doing the funniest things without remembering them later. Either way it was a fun time had by all.
On Saturday, they took a trip to the bowling alley. For a couple of hours, students got to hang out with friends and have some laughs. If you missed any of last weekend’s events, no worries because there is more to come this week with a Ski trip on Friday. On Saturday, there will be Wax Hands and Henna Tattoos in the Programming Space from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will also be a special treat this on Sunday for the BIG GAME! On Sunday, we will be showing the Super Bowl in the Alumni Lounge, on the BIG SCREEN of course, with wings, pizza, and drinks. So come join us at 5 p.m. in the Alumni Lounge.
There were some great events last week even though there was snow. Even though there is going to be snow this week, we are still going to have even more great events. Hope to see everyone there!
