Halloween, a night where anyone can be anything they want, but how does one figure out what to be when the ideas are endless? As Oct. 31 creeps around the corner, one of the main fears haunting the minds of many is finding a good costume while on a time crunch. But don’t worry, if you need something quick and easy, here’s a guide of some costume ideas that will have you looking fang-tastic this Halloween.
While in a rush to figure out what to wear, it’s easy to forget the one place we look in everyday: our closets. If you play any sports, or are a fan of any sports teams, a quick and easy costume can be to wear a jersey you might already own. But if that’s too basic, a quick twist can be to grab some makeup or add some fake blood to your face to make yourself a spooky, undead athlete. If you have a favorite character from any show or movie, take inspiration from their outfits and see what you have in your closet that matches their vibe, you might even find an outfit that is spot on to one of theirs.
Want something that leans more into the classic side of Halloween? If you have some old sheets, or a sheet you don’t mind messing up, you can cut out two small ovals next to each other, put it over your head, and become a ghost. You can also add some fun accessories such as necklaces or sunglasses to create your own ghost persona. Want to be more unique? Choose a fun colored or patterned sheet, unless you want to stick with the classic ghostly white color. The choices are yours.
A little more on the do it yourself side , but still spooky and comfortable, is a DIY skeleton. If you have a black long-sleeve shirt and sweatpants lying around, grab some duct tape to create the design of skeleton bones on your clothes. Templates can be found online to follow, just make sure to use an X-ACTO knife for easy and precise cutting.
Every year, Halloween comes with a set of costumes that trend based on what was popular during the year. If you want to stick to the trendy side of things, take a look at some of the popular film releases this year, you might want to go as a character from one of those films. How about characters from the Ryan Coogler film, “Sinners,” or outfits depicting characters from the film adaptation of the Stephen King novel, “The Long Walk.” If you’re a fan of superheroes and comics, some popular outfits based on films that released this year can be based on characters from either the “Superman” film or Marvel’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” that were both released back in July.
