Positives
The UNH Mediation and Spirituality Center has officially opened! Many thanks to all involved in creating this space, as a result of a survey last year. Answering student’s needs of a prayer space and mediation center, the basement of Ruden 15 now has a space for anyone at UNH to find their peace of mind. Plus there are really comfy cushions.
The Seton Art gallery in Dodds has opened its first exhibit of the semester; Constructed Ecology. This exhibit is not merely paintings on the walls; there are lights, videos, sounds and textures included. The lines of nature and our technological engineering world are blurred… and the floor is comprised of grass.
Negatives
Greek Life and rush week is great, but I experienced mild shock when walking out of Buckman straight into a roar of chanting men. If the guys weren’t holding their fraternities’ flags I would question the prevalence of active cults on campus.
It seems like the best events are always kept secret on campus, whereas the clubs downtown get most publicity. The Chinese students held a Mid Autumn Moon festival in the German club on Thursday, Sept. 19. It was complete with authentic Chinese food, games, and bubble tea, unfortunately, most students found out about the event only after it happened.

Our campus had two dedication ceremonies last Friday, Sept. 20. Thanks to the generous donation of the Gehrings, the Henry C. Lee institute will be able to offer students more scholarships, internships, and state of the art education, and the College of Business will have an endowed scholarship fund. Another thanks goes to Alexander Nicholson, whose gifts allow the Health Center to have top-notch examination rooms and medical equipment.
