Who will come out on top this season?
(Winning picks in bold)
Season Record: 34-26
New York Giants @ Chicago Bears
Chicago has dropped its last two games after starting 3-0, but look for them to bounce back and pick up a win over the struggling Giants. Jay Cutler and the offense did outstanding Sunday for the Bears, but the defense needs to improve if the Bears want to get back on a winning track. Meanwhile, the woes for the Giants continue. They had their best chance for a win against the Eagles, but failed to rally back for the win. Expect the Bears to win handily in Chicago.
Philadelphia Eagles @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Eagles have momentum after getting their first win since the opening week of the season. They have a share of the NFC East lead despite a 2-3 record. The Bucs are coming off a much needed bye week after quarterback controversy has surrounded the team for a few weeks. Look for a close game, with the Eagles pulling out a win.
Cincinnati Bengals @ Buffalo Bills
Cincinnati pulled out a sloppy win over the Patriots on Sunday. The Bengals need to put up more points (just 19 in the last two games) if they want to keep pace with the Browns and Ravens atop the division. The Bills season went from bad to worse when they lost to the Browns last week. Rookie quarterback, EJ Manuel, will be out a few weeks, meaning they are stuck with a backup quarterback. Look for the Bengals to regain their offensive power and roll over the Bills.
Detroit Lions @ Cleveland Browns
Despite the Browns’ recent run of three straight wins, the Lions should get a win. Cleveland will have to play flawlessly to pull of the upset of the Lions. The Lions should regain some confidence after playing sloppily in their loss to the Packers.
Oakland Raiders @ Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs are 5-0 and are the first team to ever start 5-0 after winning two or less games in the previous season. The Chiefs can’t do anything wrong and look for a 6-0 start with a win over the Raiders. Look for the Raiders to put up a good effort, but get downed by Kansas City.
Carolina Panthers @ Minnesota Vikings
Carolina is still looking for an identity this season. They haven’t been horrible, but they haven’t been winning. Expect another loss when they travel to Minnesota. The Vikings need a consistent quarterback and need Adrian Peterson to pick up more yards running the football. This game should be a nail-biter, with the Vikings coming out with a win.
Pittsburgh Steelers @ New York Jets
Don’t expect this game to be exciting to watch. Both teams are struggling this season. Whoever can play a mistake-free game will come out on top. Expect the Jets to win and put the Steelers to 0-5. The Jets need a win to keep pace in the AFC East.
Green Bay Packers @ Baltimore Ravens
This should be listed as the game of the week. Both teams haven’t been overpowering this season. This contest could go either way, but expect the Packers to win. Aaron Rodgers can get his team over .500 and back in the picture for the division lead.
St. Louis Rams @ Houston Texans
Houston should bounce back easily against the Rams after a terrible performance Sunday night against the 49ers. Matt Schaub needs to make better throws (he has four straight games with an interception returned for a touchdown). The Rams took down the Jaguars, gaining a little momentum, however, the Texans should be too overpowering for the Cardinals to overcome.
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Denver Broncos
The game could have the largest spread in NFL history. Denver should win by four touchdowns.
Tennessee Titans @ Seattle Seahawks
Seattle hopes to bounce back after a heartbreaking loss to the Colts. Seattle has what it takes to rebound. Tennessee will most likely be without Quarterback Jake Locker again. The rest of the Titans need to step up in his absence. Expect the Seahawks to win handily.
Arizona Cardinals @ San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers are showing life after a slow start. They have won two straight games, including a convincing win over the Texans on Sunday Night Football, however, Colin Kaepernick is struggling mightily for the 49ers. He needs to regain his game as the season closes in on the mid-way point. The Cardinals have been inconsistent but still sit above .500. Expect the Cardinals to give a valiant effort, but come up short.
New Orleans Saints @ New England Patriots
The Saints are 5-0 and show no signs of slowing down. Expect the Saints’ high-powered offense to blow out the Patriots in New England. Tom Brady’s quest for most consecutive games with a touchdown pass ended on Sunday when he failed to throw for a touchdown. The Patriots have a lot of unanswered questions, despite the 4-1 record.
Washington Redskins @ Dallas Cowboys
Tony Romo had a career game on Sunday, throwing for five touchdowns and over 500 yards. Unfortunately, a late interception by Romo cost the Cowboys a win. Look for Romo to have an encore performance in Dallas when they face the Redskins. The Redskins are coming off a bye. Everybody is still waiting to see what RG3 and Washington can do.
Indianapolis Colts @ San Diego Chargers
The Colts are coming off a huge win over the previously unbeaten Seahawks. Andrew Luck rallied the team to a come-from-behind win. Expect Luck to lead his team to victory over the Chargers. The Chargers continue to struggle and cannot put a winning streak together. The defense needs to allow fewer points per game.
