Revenge is a dish served best cold, and it was also a dish that the Chargers could not serve last season.
Rallying in the Northeast-10 championship game against Adelphi, they would come up short, losing 4-3; now having to hope for a spot in the division two softball world series. Even with loosing the NE-10 championship, they got the call, and would be heading to Brookeville, NY.
In the first game, they would see the same Adelphi team that they came so close to beating. This game would be personal for the Chargers, or so one would think. Adelphi would score early in the game and would go on to win it 4-1, giving the Chargers another disappointing loss, but they were still alive.
They would go on to play Dominican College and LIU Post beating both to get to the regional championship to see whom? The same Adelphi Panthers. This seems like something out of a movie, already losing to this team twice, but if revenge would taste sweet, this would be the moment. But it’s not a movie, and Adelphi went on to win 9-5, officially eliminating the Chargers.
Now it’s time to start from scratch, some players gone and some players new. But one thing that will be completely different this season is the look of the UNH Softball Field.
Although the luck for the Chargers didn’t need to change, the field did. Dugouts and a press box were put in making the field look as good as the record the Chargers had last season.
After a long summer of building, its time to take the new field as softball has officially released their fall schedule, and they are hoping this is a start to good things.
Their schedule, listed below, is exhibition games, some against Division II schools, some testing the boundaries of the team, taking on Division I schools. No matter the opponent, the Chargers are looking to keep the wins coming as they did last season.
