Mark Schwahn did a great job wrapping up all the loose ends of the hit series One Tree Hill after nine seasons of suspense and excitement.
The series that started in 2003 ended Wednesday April 3, 2012. Schwahn claimed this show was one of the biggest underdog success stories in television history. It was very emotional for both the actors and audience that had grown up with the show. One Tree Hill was easy to relate to and even easier to emerge yourself into as though it was real life.
In the last episode Nathan Scott, played by James Lafferty, opens the show with “It’s the oldest story in the world; one day you’re seventeen and planning for someday, and then quietly, and without you really even noticing, someday is today, and then someday is yesterday, and this is your life.” This is a perfect quote for One Tree Hill because it has truly been a story of the characters lives; growing up in high school, falling in and out of love, getting married, getting divorced, starting their careers; and then starting a new one, and finally having kids.
The show also starred Sophia Bush as Brooke Davis, Bethany Joy Lenz as Haley James Scott, Paul Johansson as Dan Scott, Chad Michael Murray as Lucas Scott, Jackson Brundage as Jamie, Lee Norris as Marvin McFadden sometimes better known as mouth, Hilarie Burton as Peyton Sawyer, and many others.
Throughout the many years that the show was on air, it also featured many striving musical artists that previewed their material on One Tree Hill and even included music from Haley herself and Harry Johnson who played Chris Keller who first noticed Haley’s talent. Gavin Degraw has been with the series all nine years and his song “I Don’t Wanna Be” has been the theme song since episode one.
The show took place in a small town in North Carolina: home of the Ravens, the high school basketball team. There has always been intense emotion behind the show, and season nine prevailed with maybe the most emotional season yet as all the characters came together stronger than ever.
After 187 episodes what will these characters do now, and what will One Tree Hill fans watch now on Wednesday nights: as the last episode was titled “One Tree Hill; Always and Forever.”
The complete and final season will be available to purchase April 10, 2012.
