At approx. 10:40 PM on Thursday, April 15, 2010 West Haven medical personnel responded to a complaint of a woman with chest pains at the Regency Apartments. She was transported to the hospital where she passed away during the night.
The West Haven Police Department is currently investigating the possibility that the woman and her boyfriend had been involved in a domestic dispute.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that the death was the result of blunt force trauma. The boyfriend, James Ratchford, is in custody, charged with Assault 2nd Degree and is being held on a $500,000 bond.
There is no danger to anyone at the Regency. The one and only suspect is in police custody.
