NEW HAVEN – The newest shop in the Broadway Retail District, Kerin Boutique, offers smart fashions for the eco-conscious woman and has recently made itself much more affordable with lower price points and discounted shopping program.
Kerin opened in December of 2009, and its quality designer fashions include shoes, handbags, apparel, accessories, and more. All fashions are fair trade and environmentally conscious.
Now, just months after its opening, Kerin has knocked down the price points on its new summer stock and has launched a student shopper program offering 15% off with a valid student ID.
“We hope this program will help the … community become aware of the affordable eco friendly fashions right here in New Haven,” said Chris Kerin, who founded Kerin with his daughter, Jacqueline.
The strong local demand for socially responsible, quality women’s apparel was the driving force behind the boutique’s concept. Kerin offers fashionable brands including olsen Haus, Matt & Nat, and Stewart & Brown. Kerin is not limited to high fashion, however, as it sells a wide variety of affordable everyday clothing and accessories.
“Kerin adds a wonderful set of high fashion, environmentally-friendly offerings to the broad and sophisticated array of apparel to be found among the more than 50 shops and boutiques located in downtown New Haven,” said Abigail Rider, one of the directors of the Broadway Merchants Association. “We are delighted and privileged to have new businesses opening in New Haven in the midst of an economic downturn… New Haven was one of the top 20 performing metropolitan economies in the country in the first quarter of 2009 and the opening of Kerin is tangible proof of this.”
Kerin joins the only J Crew in New Haven County, Urban Outfitters, and the Yale Bookstore, the largest bookstore between New York and Boston, in the Broadway Retail District, where stores are open until 9 pm Monday to Saturday and until 6 pm on Sunday with easy parking available.
