Positives
Most UNH offices had baskets of candy for students to take from on Halloween Day. Visiting Financial Aid for scholarships?? Nah…. for free Butterfingers! President Kaplan was also handing out candy in a Frankenstein suit on Halloween! No one knew that he was in disguise and most people grabbed the candy without a second thought.
Getting an extra hour of sleep was a treat this past weekend when the clocks turned back on Sunday. Everyone knows a mere 60 minutes of sleep for college kids may be the difference between zombie mode and being vigorously productive.
Negatives
The past two horror movies presented by SCOPE have been shown in Bartels. This would be a great, except the chairs are uncomfortable, all the lights upstairs are on, and the sound spreads out throughout the space so the movies are never loud enough. What happened to Friday night movie showings in Buckman?
Employees of Sandella’s need to stop hiding in the left corner behind the counter when they should be making food. Twenty minutes to prepare a wrap without meat in it? That’s a bit ridiculous when three workers are on duty.
Battery Charge
This university’s organizations really know how to celebrate Halloween! From PIRO’s Paranormal Awareness Week including a ghost hunt, story-telling, Divination Fair, Harvest Party, Costume Ball, and trip to Salem, to Honors Student Council’s Haunted Ziplining, horror movies shown in Bartels, SCOPE’s Haunted House and Gaming Club’s Zombie Night, Halloween was extended a week rather than one day. This makes trick-or-treating nostalgia not seem so bad anymore.
