The Jack A. Pinto fundraiser is a charitable gift fundraiser created in honor of a Lehigh/New Haven Delta Chi alumnus, Dean Pinto’s son Jack. His life was tragically lost in the Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting. The fund is to honor Jack for his kind giving spirit, and will be used to help contribute to charitable organizations that provide comfort to children and families most in need.
Jack was a loving young six-year-old of Newtown, Connecticut. Jack was a member of his town’s little league baseball team and also loved the sport of wrestling. He has sadly left many loving and grieving friends and family in his community, who all miss his heartwarming smile and personality. He was also known to be a huge New York Giants fan. Victor Cruz, the NY Giants wide receiver commemorated the loss of Jack by writing on his cleats “Jack Pinto, My Hero” and also paid tribute by personally visiting the family to pay respect to them in such a horrific time. Jack was laid to rest wearing his favorite football team’s jersey.
Through the tightly-bonded brotherhood of the Delta Chi Fraternity, alumnus and active members throughout the nation all wanted to help a grieving brother in need as much as possible. The Jack A. Pinto Shirt fundraiser was one way that all chapters could contribute together. We, the University of New Haven chapter, were the highest ordering chapter of all, as we all were deeply saddened to hear the loss of one of our own alumnus’ child. This is only a tiny contribution compared to what else is to come from our chapter. We feel it is our duty and responsibility to help our brother as much as possible, but at the same time give the space he needs mourn on the loss of his son.
