This weekend was so hectic with families running around everywhere. I hope everyone had a great time showing their families the campus and what cool events we put on here. And just because it was Family Day, that doesn’t mean that SCOPE stopped putting on events; nope we were busier than ever.
But before we talk about Family Day, let’s talk about the rest of the week. First, Film put on their weekly movie which was Transformers: Dark of the Moon. A lot of people showed up to that, and I don’t think it was just for the popcorn. There were new faces and old faces, but happy faces were all around. It was an amazing movie, because there was action, fighting, great special effects, and some hilarious jokes to break the mood. All in all, everyone had a great time and left with full bellies; the popcorn was a nice touch. This week the fun continues with the showing of Bad Teacher in the Quad: Friday at 7:30 p.m.
It’s also the first week of the month, which means that Beanhouse was on Tuesday in the Programming Space. Students were able to once again show off their talents at our open mic night. We have some amazing talent here on campus, and it’s not just from the music department; even people without musical help got up on stage and sang their hearts out. If you have a talent, don’t be shy. Come show it off next month.
Now, let’s talk about Family Day! It was a great day with so many events, and I know families really enjoyed themselves. Who wouldn’t? Obviously there were more events going on than just SCOPE events, which made the day even better; but SCOPE did a great job. In the morning, we had the Inflatable Fun Fest, which was moved from the Quad, because of the threat of rain. However, it was still fun. There were giant inflatables and a trampoline, which had a line out the door, and of course food, ice cream, and cookies; yum! The fun continued that night with SCOPE’s Murder Mystery Dinner. It had everybody wondering “who done it,” and the actors were so entertaining. Also, I don’t think there are words to describe how good the food was. It was a great ending to a fantastic day.
SCOPE never stops, even if there is a two day holiday. Even though it is Columbus Day Weekend next week, we still have events. Sign up for the Lyman Orchards trip to pick pumpkins and apples, come out to the movies, get a laser scribe pen and photo dry erase board, and more! SCOPE keeps the fun coming!
