So the last two weeks have had a theme, which were Comedy Week and Rock and Roll Week, and they both were awesome! This past week didn’t have a theme, but it still had some great events, and we gave away great prizes.
SCOPE’s Comedy and Lecture Committee had a busy week putting on three events. On Wednesday, they brought The Food Dude Kevin Roberts, who is the host of BBQ Pittmasters and more, to campus to talk about food. He talked about healthy food and foods that were bad for you. Not only did he talk about it, but he also made some food and gave it away. The night ended with a hot sauce drinking contest and giveaways.
Thursday night, Comedy and Lecture brought the Kinsey Sicks to the German Club. It was an amazingly funny show with drag queens that made fun of the university and the surrounding towns. On Monday, the Evolution of Dance performed. He talked about the development of some dances and then did his own routine; it was so cool. There were moves in his performance from the 60’s, 70’s, thriller, disco; and more. Please come out for Comedy and Lecture’s last event, “Female O” on Monday, April 25 at 8:00 p.m. in the German Club.
The movie this week was The Dilemma, starring Vince Vaughn and Kevin James. It was a hilarious movie, where Vince catches his best friend’s wife cheating and doesn’t know whether he should tell him or not. Vince falls in poisonous flowers, gets beat up, and more debating back and forth. There is another great movie playing this week in Bartels Café on Friday at 9:00 p.m.: The Green Hornet. Come out and see it.
Special Events also had a busy week; they put on two events. On Tuesday, they co-sponsored with LAU for their Deal or No Deal Game Night. They gave away prizes like gift cards and UNH attire, but the best ones were the 42” TV and Xbox with Kinect and more. Then on Thursday, they put on the last Beanhouse of the year! It was fantastic, because all of the regulars came out and played one last time, and there were some new people, like SCOPE’s very own Assistant Chair Courtney Faber (even though she was forced). It was a good time had by all!
And finally Weekend Programming put on some great events this weekend as well. On Friday, there was Graffiti where you could get mugs or basketballs with your name on them, get an airbrushed sweatshirt, or get a license plate in your favorite colors. Students walked away with some great stuff. On Saturday, students took a trip to Six Flags that was ruined by rain but for the time that it didn’t rain, everyone had a great time. This weekend, they are doing Greenheads and Eco-Bracelets on Earth Day, Friday, April 22 in the Programming Space at 6:00 p.m. and on Saturday there will be an Easter Egg Hunt, where you could win some great prizes starting at 4:00 p.m. at the new Bartels Activity Center.
And remember, next weekend April 29 to May 1 is Spring Weekend. On Friday, the Spring Concert will be up at North Campus, with doors opening at 7:00 p.m., and the show starts at 8:00 p.m.; tickets will be on sale next week. On Saturday, the Spring Carnival up at North Campus will be from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and then at 8:00 p.m., the Spring Comedian, Ralphie Mae, will be making everyone laugh. To end the weekend on Sunday, there will be the Drive-In Movie, Just Go With It, in the quad at 9:00 p.m. Make sure you make room in your calendars!
