Thanksgiving break was amazing! But SCOPE has been busy, both before and after break. There were a bunch of things going on right before break, and we wasted no time getting back into the events after break.
Before break, Film, with help from Special Events and Student Activities’ Twisted Thursdays, took the trip of the year when we went to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows the night it came out. The bus stop was filled with a hundred and forty excited college students that couldn’t wait to fill a movie theater of their own and watch the midnight showing of the highly anticipated movie of the year. The entire movie theater was reserved for UNH students only, and each student got popcorn and a drink to make the trip complete. The movie was amazing and everything everybody had been waiting for. We have a hundred and forty college students that can’t wait for the second part to come out. We then got back into the weekly movies with a fantastic movie, Charlie St. Cloud, starring Zac Efron on Tuesday. It that showed a great persona of brotherly love. Also coming up this week to finish off the semester is Resident Evil on Friday, December 3 at 9:00 p.m. in Bartels.
Weekends was also busy before break, planning great events for the weekend to get ready for Thanksgiving and also for the weekend that finishes off the semester. Before break, they had “Are You Smarter Than A Freshman?” which is based off of the popular TV show Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?. Students had a tough time answering questions that they had to remember from their freshman year. For those that were able to answer questions, they left with some great prizes.
On Saturday, Weekends cosponsored with MEISA and had a fantastic concert with Dear Hunter and Moving Mountains. It was a great concert; the bands were really good and the audience loved them. This weekend coming up, there is a trip to Ice Skating on Friday, December 3, with bus leaving at 9:30 p.m. Signups are Wednesday, December 1 at 10:00 p.m. Look in your email for the sign up email. On Saturday, December 4, they are bringing people to teach everyone how to dance the Salsa. “Salsa Magic” is going to be Saturday in the Alumni Lounge at 6:00 p.m. So, before you go to Snowball, learn how to dance.
I hope you didn’t miss the last Beanhouse of the semester! It was great; there are a lot of great students here with some great talent. Even if you can’t sing or play an instrument you should have been there to hear the great music coming from these people. Don’t worry. If you missed it this semester, just join us next semester for our monthly Beanhouses.
Also coming up next week is SCOPE’s semesterly Relaxation Package. There are going to be massage artists, a chocolate fountain with some great food, and some holiday crafts.
