Dudes and dudettes, welcome back to the second half of the Fall Semester and the continuance of great SCOPE events. Before the break we planned some laid back events that got you prepared for some well-deserved days off. Film had their regular weekly movie, Special Events planned a very popular event, and Weekend Programming had some relaxing arts and crafts.
Film’s weekly movie last week was Dinner for Schmucks. Steve Carell and Paul Rudd were comedy gold. They were funny and had the entire crowd in tears from laughing so hard. Not only was the movie funny, but it also taught a lesson about friendship. So, on that note, all friends should sit down and watch this movie together so that they can learn about what it takes when being a good friend. Unfortunately, there wass no movie this week due to the break, but next week Film will be showing Despicable Me on Tuesday, October 19 and Friday, October 22 in Bartels Café at 9 p.m.
On Wednesday, Special Events brought “Write on Rice” artists to the Programming Space. Students were able to get their names, their significant other names, anniversary dates, or other clever word phrases written on a PIECE OF RICE!!! A small piece of rice was able to hold up to six letters, and then it was made into a necklace. It was a great event with a great turnout. The next Special Events’ event is Beanhouse, SCOPE’s open mike night. Join us on Tuesday, October 19 at 9 p.m.in the Bartels Programming Space.
Weekend Programming had a slow weekend because of the break, but they still brought a great event to campus. Fall Craft Night had ceramic fall themed pottery that students were able to paint and decorate their rooms with. There were leaves, pumpkin picture frames, Happy Fall signs, and other fall items. It was a very relaxing and creative time for those that came, and it was a really good event before a long weekend of relaxation. This coming weekend they are planning some all-time favorite events. Tye dye is Friday, October 15 in Bartels Café from 9-10:30 p.m. On Saturday, October 16 they have planned a trip to Lyman Orchards; sign-ups will be Wednesday night. So, look out for your emails.
Also, this week we will be having the Butt Sketch Artist and Adam Pate, fastest caricaturist in the nation. Day Programming is bringing these artists to Bartels Programming Space from 12:30-4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13. So come get some art for your room.
