Stepping into The Lizzie McGuire Movie
Ciao,
This week has been full of trips all around Italy. I started with a trip to Siena, which is about an hour bus drive from Prato.
Siena is an extremely beautiful city. It is full of hills and winding streets. We went to Cattedrale Cathedral. This cathedral is so huge and beautiful; it is really just unbelievable how intricate the outside façade and the inside of the church are.
While we were in Siena, we also went to the Piazza Del Campo. This is where they would have horse and chariot races. It is a huge square and in the middle, people would stand to watch the races, and, the chariots around the outside of the square.
Also in this square is a clock/bell tower. You can climb to the top and see some of the most amazing views. I climbed around 500 steps to the top and the view was so breathtaking; you could see for miles all around Siena. It was amazing.
I also went to Rome, where I got to see the Colosseum, the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain. It was so surreal to be in the city and walk around ancient ruins and buildings. I felt like I was in The Lizzie McGuire Movie, except the Trevi Fountain was nothing like in the movie. It is being restored, so there is plastic and metal all over it.
So far, Rome has been my favorite city in Italy. It has the best food, buildings and people. I had the most amazing handmade pumpkin raviolis.
I also got to see the Pope while I was in Rome. It was the coolest thing ever to hear the Pope speak and be in another country.
It has been a great last few days, and I’m so excited to see more of Italy.
Tanti saluti da,
Jess Sullivan
