SCOPE Film Committee is getting ready to wind down the end of the year; this was the last full week of a movie presentation. This week, they picked a good one: One for the Money. On Tuesday and Friday, they showed the movie in the Bartels Cafeteria and had all of the students laughing and enjoying themselves through the entire movie.
This movie follows a recently unemployed Jersey girl who needs to find a job to support herself; however, she is having a tough time. Stephanie Plum, played by Katherine Heigl, has fallen on some hard times and while looking for a job from one of her family members, she decides to become a bounty hunter. She learns that a guy she knew back in high school who took advantage of her is one of the people being hunted because he skipped out on his bail. Looking for some payback, she goes after Joe Morelli, played by Jason O’Mara. But she doesn’t realize that she has bitten off more that she can chew.
The movie follows her as she finds Morelli, loses him, finds him, learns to shoot a gun, makes friends with prostitutes, and solves a murder. It is hilarious funny as Plum tries to play with the big boys. But in the end she comes out ahead and is the heroine.
Of course a movie this good is only made better by some popcorn courtesy of Scope. Next week is the last movie before the Drive-In movie for Spring Weekend. So come out on Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. to the Bartels Cafeteria to see Contraband.
