Sophomore Nicolette Angelli has been elected the 2016-2017 Undergraduate Student Government Association Treasurer. Angelli, originally from Lynn, Mass., is studying Criminal Law Enforcement Administration.
The Charger Bulletin: Why did you run for USGA Treasurer?
Nicolette Angelli: I ran for this position after being involved on the Budget Committee. As a member, I learned a lot about what it was like to be in the position of Assistant Treasurer and Treasurer, and was interested to know more. After speaking to the current Treasurer, I realized I was definitely interested in eventually holding the position. I shadowed her for a day and realized I wanted to run for next year.
CB: When did you first get involved with USGA?
NA: I started going to USGA my first semester freshman year after I was elected into a class e-board position.
CB: What do you like most about being part of USGA?
NA: What I like most about USGA is seeing the impact us students have on campus. I like seeing how all the clubs can come together every week for a meeting and share what they are planning for the upcoming weeks, as well as making decisions that affect the whole campus.
CB: Now that you’ve been elected, are there any changes you plan to make next year, or any new ideas you’d like to implement?
NA: My goal, now that I have been elected, is to learn everything I need to do to be successful during my term. I will listen to the students around me and understand where their clubs may be having trouble with finances and figure out what I can do to help. I plan on doing this by creating a monthly survey for RSO treasurers to fill out to maintain an open line of communication for improvements. I do have a lot of ideas to start working on as soon as I can!
