Last week was Film Week, brought to students by SCOPE’s Film Committee, and it was filled with great fun, film related events. Of course they showed movies, but on Thursday, February 23 they hosted a Game Night. That’s right a movie Game Night. SCOPE and the co-sponsor the Gaming Club, put on a movie themed game night in the Bartels Programming Space.
Everyone has heard of Monopoly, Life, Risk, and all those household board games, but what would a movie themed Game Night be with just the ordinary versions of those games. Of course SCOPE and the Gaming Club were going to have students play movie themed games like Star Wars Life and Lord of the Rings Monopoly.
But when all the students began playing, it wasn’t just about the game; it was about the competition. Students came to the Programming Space and saw the array of games and after they picked the game they wanted to play, all around faces changed and the competition started. Every student wanted to win, but it was more a competition between friends and roommates. Neither friend nor roommate wanted to lose to the other. It got a little ugly through the night, but there were a lot of laughs, and everyone had a lot of fun.
