The third edition to the Twilight Saga, Eclipse, is about the epic battle that unites the Cullen vampires and the Quileute werewolves against a common enemy. This movie also shows the final fight for Jacob vs. Edward. During the movie, every feminine audience member was hanging on Taylor Lautner’s every shirtless move and Robert Pattinson’s every clever remark; a lot of them were ready to swoon when Lautner was on the screen.
Eclipse was directed by the best of Twilight directors so far, David Slade, and produced by Summit Entertainment. Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner reunite to star together once again in this newest edition to the Saga. Eclipse was released June 30, 2010 and is rated PG-13. In this movie, Bella has to choose, once and for all, who she will love: Edward or Jacob. All the while her nemesis, Victoria, is creating a vicious newborn vampire army to kill her and the entire Cullen clan. This movie made approximately $83 million in the U.S. alone on its opening weekend.
In this movie, both Edward and Jacob fight to win Bella’s love; they shower her with gifts, affection, and safety, while the entire audience knew who she is going to pick anyway. Jacob tries too hard to win her love, while he inadvertently gives her a broken hand and ends up with half of his body crushed and broken. Bella doesn’t seem to understand the power she holds over these two fairytale creatures of the night, but she chooses the one she can’t live without. This was an overall great movie and a favorite to all the “Twihearts” here on campus.
A key scene in the movie was the actual battle scene. This fight was so well played by the cast and made to seem very real by the crew, that some people feel that, without this scene, Eclipse would be the worst of the Twilight movies so far.
The event was a great success; it was put on by Scope and held in lower Bartels on this past Tuesday and Friday at 9:00 p.m. Thank you so much Scope for feeding the addiction of the Team Edward and Team Jacob fans here at the University of New Haven.
