On February 19 and 21, the Delta Chi Fraternity New Haven chapter teamed up with The American Red Cross to hold a blood drive. One unit can save three lives, so the initial goal of 60 units was imperative to reach. Over the two days, students and faculty alike trickled in and out of the German Club on campus donating blood to help towards our goal.
Delta Chi handled check-in and scheduling as the Red Cross employees quickly filled interview booths and tables. As the donators finished, they were greeted at the waiting table by brothers of the fraternity offering juice and snacks.
After they finished they were sent on their way with a free entrée coupon from Chile’s. At the end of the quick and easy clean-up, we sat with the Red Cross to see if our goal had been reached. The target of 60 units was achieved and as much as 76 units were collected, saving 228 lives. This marks yet another successful blood drive with another to follow later on in the semester.
