On Thursday, October 21, professionals from around the state from a variety of professions, convened at UNH for the sole purpose of helping UNH students learn how to navigate the world of professional networking. Modeled after speed dating, employers told students about themselves and their professional backgrounds during the 3-1/2 minute ‘round-robin’ sequence of the Fall Speed Networking event. After an hour of moving quickly in groups, from one employer to the next, students settled in to speak with employers who could provide inside information on specific industries. The last part of the evening, a pleasant, relaxing meal, was a welcome respite as approximately 100 event guests continued networking over stuffed mushrooms, quiche, chicken fingers, dips, brownies, and lemonade.
Some employer comments:
“I was at the first one; this one was exceedingly superior! ”
“Have it 3x a year instead of 2!”
“The more access students have to employment options, the better. This university performs admirably in preparing students for the ‘real world’”
“Students were actively engaged with each employer, dressed well and motivated to participate”
“I did not know what to expect; I am so glad I came!”
We invite YOU to join us for our next one in the spring!
