We finally made it! Classes ended on December 12, and we’re at that time where all that’s left to do it prepare for finals and wrap up any loose ends before everyone is on their way home for the holidays/winter break. This semester had its fair share of interesting occurrences ranging from Hurricane Irene at the beginning to the October snowstorm to our football team making it to the NCAA Division II quarterfinals. But now it’s time to move forward, and we’re looking towards the future. For some, this means moving on to the second semester of your college years while for others like me, we’re looking to end our time at UNH and graduate in the spring. Regardless of your academic status here at UNH, I think everyone will agree that the time flies. I’ve noticed each year here coming and going, but I still can’t believe that I’m going to be a second semester senior soon; the real world is just around the corner!
To those of you who still haven’t found something to get involved with on campus, look back over the semester and see if that’s how you want your entire college career to go. During my freshman year, I was not all that involved, but by the time sophomore year rolled around, I had made plans over the summer and hit the ground running right away! Don’t waste your time here by not utilizing what UNH offers everyone.
To those of you in the middle of the pack (I’m looking at you sophomores, juniors), keep working at it and keep being involved! You’re in a position to become a student leader and really do some great things for both UNH and your future. It’s also a good time to look into internships that you may want or need to do. Need a hand with that? Contact the Career Development Center or head there! It’s located in the Bartels Student Activity Center, and they are more than happy to help you with whatever you need!
Seniors, we’re almost there! I can hardly believe that it’s already time to start planning my real life following college. Now’s the time that we should be using to find companies/businesses that we want to work for potentially and polish up our resume and cover letters as we begin to apply. Again, the Career Development Center is there to help, so don’t neglect this resource. It’s also the time to make sure your happy with how you spent your time at UNH. There’s still a semester left so if there is something you always wanted to do that you never have, go for it! Once you graduate, you don’t want to look back with regrets; so make sure you won’t.
Well that about wraps up my editorial for the last issue of the paper. I hope you have all enjoyed the paper that Joann and I, as well as our terrific staff, have put out over the course of this semester. If you weren’t thrilled with something you saw, let us know! We’re open to feedback and would love to make this paper something everyone wants to read. So if you have the next great idea, send it along to us! Good luck to everyone on your finals, and I hope you all have a wonderful and restful winter break!
