NEW YORK, N.Y. – The University of New Haven women’s track and field team took part in the UAlbany Great Dane Classic Friday at the New York City Armory. A number of Chargers posted marks against a majority of Division I athletes.
Shraya Manick (New Haven, Conn./Wilbur Cross) posted two marks, in the shot put and the weight throw. The junior finished 11th in the weight throw with a throw of 14.55 meters. She also finished 12th in the shot put with distance of 12.11 meters.
Dominique Stasulli (Shenandoah, Pa./Shenandoah) also recorded two top 20 finishes. The junior finished 12th in the 1000m run with a time of 3:05.18 and posted an 18th place finish in the one mile run with a time of 5:16.90.
Calista Hutchinson (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson Central) finished 20th in the high jump with a height of 1.60 meters and 23rd in the long jump with a distance of 5.10 meters. Freshman Tiara Mitchell (Westbury, N.Y./Old Westbury) recorded a 19th place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 11.24 meters.
Monica Yanez (West Haven, Conn./West Haven) finished 23rd in the 500m dash and 62nd in the 200m dash. Alesha Chu Foo (Bridgeport, Conn./Bunnell) placed 24th in the high jumps, while freshman Briana Conyers (Derby, Conn./Hill Regional Career) placed 25th in the triple jump. Danielle Sorrentino (Staten Island, N.Y./Port Richmond) finished 27th in the 3000m run, Ivy Watts (Waltham, Mass./Waltham) placed 30th in the 400m dash, Alissa Howell (Framingham, Mass./Framinham) finished 30th in the long jump, Alejandra Cortez (Riverside, Calif./Norte Vista) placed 31st in the one mile run and Meredith O’Connor was 44th in the 60m hurdles.
The Chargers will return to action on Friday, January 27 when they travel to the Boston University Terrier Classic. The meet will take place at the BU Track and Tennis Center in Boston.
