The University of New Haven Women’s Soccer team hosted a spring 7v7 Tournament on Sunday, April 1. The tournament consisted of 14 teams, four being club teams, nine university teams, and one team formed from UNH Alumni.
Saint Peter’s represented New Jersey well as they dominated their games, going 4-0. Their team scored seventeen goals while only allowing four goals against. Pace, Bridgeport, and Western Connecticut State each entered two teams in the tournament. Pace 1 and Dowling did extremely well as they were the only other teams to not lose in this tournament. Pace 1 finished with three wins and a tie, while Dowling finished with two wins and two ties.
Tami Vargas led UNH in scoring, totaling three goals in this tournament. Alyssa Zargos and Amber Simms each scored two goals, and Alexa Seidenfeld scored one. UNH finished the day with a 2-1-1 record.
The UNH Alumni team also finished with a record of 2-1-1 and had a total of sixteen goals. Bridgeport 2 led the goal scoring with a total of twenty goals.
The weather was beautiful and sunny for this tournament, and everyone should come out and support the team in their next spring home tournament on April 22 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
