Women’s Soccer Recap: Saint Michael and Saint Anselm
Things started slow on September 24, as the University of New Haven’s women’s soccer team hosted Saint Anselm College in an NE-10 matchup.
The first half was a defensive showdown between the two teams, as neither team was able to score. Saint Anselm took 10 shots, while New Haven took six. A strong showing from junior goalkeeper, Paige Davis, who had six saves in the first half, led to a 0-0 score at halftime.
Finally, in the 55th minute, the Chargers got on the board when senior Megan Georges scored her first goal of the season off an assist from junior, Samantha Roth.
Inl the 84th minute, Saint Anslem forward Nicole White scored on a ball that Davis had possession of.. The ball b ended up going between Davis’ legs, which allowed Saint Anselm the opportunity to score and tie the game at one. With four seconds left in regulation, Saint Anselm was able to punch in another goal to secure the win, 2-1.
The Chargers dropped to 1-5-1 overall, and 0-4 in the NE-10.
On Sept.28, the team headed up to Saint Michael’s for an NE-10 matchup. The Chargers saw another defensive showdown in the first half and remained tied at 0-0. Davis recorded zero saves in the first half because Saint Michael’s had zero shots on goal .
