Justin Bieber is a Canadian pop/R&B singer, songwriter that was discovered by his videos on YouTube. Bieber quickly became the talk of the music industry, attracting most of his attention from young teen girls. He became a pop icon very quickly and took the nation by storm with his single “One Time,” in 2009. Throughout the years, since Bieber was first discovered, he has put up with a lot of slander from the public about his age, voice, and sexual orientation. Everything that was said was based solely upon speculation. He realized that along with the fame comes talk, and people will talk about anything to entertain themselves. Someone else who deals with the public speculation in an admirable way is, Taylor Swift.
Taylor Swift is best known for her music, which is always accelerating to a new level. She is a very talented songwriter and has won countless awards for this ability. Raised in Pennsylvania, Swift moved to Nashville at the age of 18 to pursue her music career (the same age Justin Bieber was discovered from his YouTube videos). Also like Bieber, Swift has had to deal with a lot of media attention. When Swift won the award for best Female Music Video in 2009 for, “You Belong With Me,” Kanye West quickly overshadowed her spotlight, by jumping on stage to declare that the award should have gone to Beyoncé. Swift dealt with this by writing a song dedicate to West entitled, “Innocent,” which became a hit off of her latest album Speak Now.
So what’s the surest way to create a hit? By brining together two of the biggest chart-toppers of the current music industry. According to recent news, Bieber and Swift wrote a song together, based on their experiences that have made them today’s top artists. The track, while it is rumored whether or not Swift’s vocals will be on it, is said to be released on Bieber’s latest release.
Believe, Bieber’s newest album, includes several notable collaborations, including Kanye West, Drake, and now Swift. Even with a format that has not steered Bieber wrong with his previous albums, he says Believe will be very different. In an interview with Capital FM, Bieber spoke about the included collaborations, saying: “You know, the whole album is just so different; there’s so many different people collaborating. It’s crazy. I mean I even wrote a song with Taylor Swift;so the whole album ranges differently.”
The collaboration is expected to have a country vibe, based upon a strong influence from Swift’s songwriting abilities. He went on to describe the mixture of sounds that may be heard, explaining: “With my music, it doesn’t only stay in a box. It’s so out there. Everything is so differen,t and that’s why I’m so happy with this album.” It will definitely be interesting to hear the many collaborations, and perhaps gain perspective on a more mature version of the Justin Bieber we all know.
