Several new pictures of upcoming films have dropped. The first shot of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor in the upcoming Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice was released last week. Iconically bald, Eisenberg does look like his comic counterpart, last played by Kevin Spacey in Superman Returns.
Also released was the first picture of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool from the upcoming film Deadpool. A spinoff from the X-Men films, Reynolds is reprising his role from X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Deadpool will also star TJ Millar as Weasel, Deadpool’s weapon specialist. Regarding the film, Reynolds took to Twitter and said “With great power comes great irresponsibility.”
Also in photo debuts was The Thing from the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. Appearing on Instagram, the picture of The Thing was on a Spanish billboard. Made entirely of rock, this new film will have The Thing be rendered in CGI with Jamie Bell providing the voice and performance capture, as opposed to the practical effects and makeup used in the 2005 film.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was revealed that the Russo brothers will be directing Avengers: Infinity War, which is being split into two parts with Part One coming out in 2018 and Part Two in 2019. This will be the third and fourth film the Russo brothers have directed in the MCU, after helming Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the upcoming Captain America: Civil War.
Outside of comic book movies, the first trailer for Mission Impossible 5 debuted, showing Tom Cruise performing a stunt strapped to a plain in midair. Interestingly enough, Tom Cruise really strapped himself to a flying plain for the shot, not utilizing CGI. Mission Impossible 5 is set to come out July 31.
