What would a SCOPE Comedy Week be without a Roast? That’s right on Saturday March 31, SCOPE put on their annual Roast during Comedy Week, and this year, SCOPE picked the perfect person to Roast. This year’s Roast was of the university’s own USGA President: Scott Kazar. It was a night full of laughs brought on by Scott’s friends, and a night Scott will never forget.
As SCOPE was planning Comedy Week, there was no one else they could think of that would make the entire campus community laugh than Scott Kazar. SCOPE must have picked the right person, because students couldn’t wait to file into Dodd’s Auditorium to watch the show. All the students sat in their seats with anticipation for the night’s events as Kazar’s friends James Zapp, Patrick Daniele, Brandon Way, and Dean Bandong rolled Kazar to the middle of the stage. The host for the night then began the night’s festivities.
Each roaster had their chance to poke fun at Kazar, but also poked fun at one another. Zapp, Daniele, Bandong, and Way were poking at each other’s faults and sensitivities. For example, as almost everyone knows, Scott Kazar can be a little sensitive about his weight, so a lot of the night’s jokes were about that, and as each person poked fun about it, the audience could see Kazar’s face turn red. And as each roaster came up to poke fun, they told their funny stories of Kazar; Zapp even made a powerpoint pointing out Kazar’s visions and realities, only adding to his embarrassment and making the night even more memorable.
But the roasters should have watched what they were saying, because at the end Kazar had a chance to return the embarrassment to his roasters. Kazar spent time joking about his roasters faults and sensitivities and even at some members in the audience, of course his friends, but it was a great wrap up to a night full of laughter.
SCOPE gave Kazar a trophy for being such a good sport about the entire night, and for the audience, they gave away an iPad. It was a great night all around for the roasters, the roastee, and the audience.
