University Says No New Fee for Laundry
In a story published on January 28, 2018 in the Charger Bulletin, it was reported that students would be charged a one-time fee starting in the fall for laundry services. An Office of Residential life representative said that the charge would be around $50 and would pay for upkeep and rental of the machines.
University officials said Tuesday that the representative misspoke, and that students would not be seeing a future charge for laundry.
“We believe that changes such as this reflect our ongoing commitment to provide the best possible on-campus living experience for our students,” said Nicole McGrath, associate dean for residential life and housing.
Students returned to campus in 2018 to see that they would not have to pay for laundry this semester, as part of several updates that took place over the winter intercession. Those who were interviewed praised the move, and some also detracted the idea of paying a semesterly fee, including on social media.
