For the second time in month, the University of New Haven has received a large sum of money from an anonymous donor.
According to a press release from the university, three million dollars was donated at the end of January by a “long-standing friend” of UNH who is not a former student. The money will be put toward funding a new science building on campus.
Earlier in January, another anonymous donor gave the university one million dollars in response to a fundraising challenge offered by UNH’s Board of Governors to purchase engineering equipment for Tagliatela College of Engineering. That donation, along with donations from other respondents, tripled the goal of $500,000 set by the board.
The latest donation will not provide enough money for the planned science building, however. That project is expected to cost over $35 million, according to the university. Once completed, it will house the chemistry and biology programs.
