To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA) is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. This movement is here to encourage, inform, inspire and invest into treatment and recovery.
Seventy-five percent of the proceeds from the show go to the TWLOHA Organization, and 25 percent goes towards the UChapter. The TWLOHA event had five bands that had the honor of performing this benefit show: On the Ride Home, a pop punk band from New Haven. Conn., A Will Away, a pop/rock/alternative band from Naugatuck, Conn., Shorebreak, a pop-punk/alternative band from East Islip, NY., Angry Bears, a pop punk/alternative rock band from Norwich, Conn., and The Green Line, a reggae/rock band from West Haven, Conn.
There were also two performances done by Karen Sanchez and Farber featuring Catalina Gonzalez. In between the bands, here were giveaway prizes for people whose raffle ticket was called. Also, Julie Brown and Brittany Amalfitano spoke about why TWLOHA is a part of their lives and how it had impacted them. In Brittany’s speech she said, “their message is that everyone deserves a second chance,” which is why they are all there to help others have that second chance in their life.
The outcome of the show was incredible, and they felt honored that everyone in attendance was able to share this special event with all of them. President Brittany Amalfitano and Vice President Ashley Arminio did everything to make this night happen.
“Yay guys we did it,” Arminio said after the night was finally over. She was so excited that the TWLOHA night had been accomplished. Amalfitano agreed and stated, “Guys, our very first benefit show is done.” The entire group then went in for a group hug and yelled “Wooo we did it!”
Congratulations to Amalfitano and Arminio for making the TWLOHA event successful and an enjoyable experience for everyone who attended. What exciting things are in store for TWLOHA? Only time will tell.
