What would a great Film Week be without some great movies? Well SCOPE’s Film Committee picked one of the biggest movies of all time, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part One. On Tuesday February 21, they showed the movie in the Bartels Dining Area. The crazed book that was turned into a movie had a crowd ready to see the words from the pages come to life.
Everyone knows this is a love story between a vampire, Edward Cullen played by Robert Pattinson, and a normal girl, Bella Swan played by Kristen Stewart. This popular love story has evolved over the years through both the book and the movie forms and has caught the attention of students, making it a great movie to show during Film Week. The story has evolved so far that in this movie the two love birds have gotten married, but while on their honey moon, Swan and Cullen get a surprise that shouldn’t have even occurred because of biology. Swan is pregnant. Now the book may have tweaked some aspects of vampires, but the legend that they cannot reproduce is still the same.
The movie continues to follow Swan and Cullen as they fight to keep her alive, while dealing with Jacob Black, played by Taylor Lautner, who is also in love with Swan. The love story faces some difficult patches in this first part of the story, and there are still rough patches to come.
This was a great movie pick for Film Week. The popularity of this movie drew a decent sized crowd to the Bartels Dining Area. But the size of the crowd doesn’t matter as long as you are pleasing students, and every student that came to Bartels had their eyes glued to the screen and were holding onto their seats as they watched the movie unfold.
