It is officially the holiday season, and it’s time to start shopping for presents. If you’re having a little trouble thinking of a good stocking stuffer, there are some really exciting music releases that are perfect for gift giving this year. For those in the Christmas spirit, holiday albums, including Justin Bieber’s Under The Mistletoe and Michael Bublé’s Christmas are right up your alley. However, for the less Christmas-oriented shoppers, there are plenty of options.
As with any holiday season, there is always a swarm of greatest hits collections and the like released, and this year is no exception. Collections from legends such as R.E.M. (their first ever career-spanner,) Bob Seger, Gorillaz, Pink Floyd, Frank Sinatra, and Neil Diamond are perfect additions to anyone’s collection.
Other exciting releases include Amy Winehouse’s first posthumous release Lioness: Hidden Treasures, featuring unreleased tracks recorded before her death, as well as a new deluxe edition of the Rolling Stones’ classic Some Girls album, as well as the twentieth Anniversary edition of U2’s Achtung Baby. In addition, there are plenty of exciting live DVD releases from Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue, and Adele.
As far as new music goes, Rihanna’s Talk That Talk, Drake’s Take Care, Susan Boyle’s Someone To Watch Over Me, and the Black Key’s El Camino will be some of the season’s biggest sellers. In addition, some of this past year’s biggest sellers, including Tony Bennett’s Duets II, Adele’s 21, Coldplay’s Mylo Xyloto, and Lady Gaga’s Born This Way will make perfect gifts for those who don’t already own them. Finally, for anyone looking for a gag gift this year, Nickleback has released a new album: Here And Now. Happy shopping!
