As everyone knows that last weekend was Spring Weekend, and this year was probably the biggest this campus as ever seen and a little different than past years as well. Instead of the concert being on Friday and the Comedian on Saturday, SCOPE switched them around and the Comedian was on Friday night and the concert was on Saturday night. And it seemed to work out well.
On Friday, April 27 up at the Charger Gymnasium at North Campus, student started lining up to see the Spring Comedian: Stephen Lynch. The doors opened at nine but the line started almost two hours before that, and by the time the doors did open, the line was around the outer edge of the circle and past the parking lot. Over seven hundred people came to get a good laugh.
When the doors finally opened, SCOPE was on crowd control checking UNH I.D.’s and giving out wrist bands. And those students that were lucky enough to be in front of the line ran to the front seats, and then everyone followed through filling the gym one seat at a time. At 9:30 p.m., students with guests were let in and only filled the gym even more. Finally Lynch walked out on stage and the comedy began.
Stephen Lynch and his friends walked out on stage and the crowd cheered because they knew what was about to happen. Lynch played some of his top ten songs which a lot of the students knew and sang along with in between their laughs. But he also sang some new songs from his new album, which came out in March. But no matter which song he was singing, students were laughing hysterically, trying to catch their breathes.
Lynch started at 9:30 p.m. and was supposed to end his set at 11:00 p.m., but he continued playing and making students and the guests that were there laugh until a little past 11:30 p.m. SCOPE picked a great comedian for the weekend; everyone that came enjoyed him and was laughing the entire time.
