Crazy fashion trends of 2015
All of you fashion savvy people out there know that New York Fashion Week is the most illustrious event to go to and find the best models, free giveaways and the latest upcoming trends for the next season. To everyone else in the world that doesn’t follow up on fashion, they would probably tune into some live feeds from the show and feel completely lost. They would be completely confused as to how the outfits these models are wearing translate into outfits worn in daily life.
Honestly, that is half the fun! The point isn’t to copy the look right off the runway; it is to pinpoint the highlights of the outfit and make it personally yours.
On the other hand, some designers take their ideas a little too far in their quest to make their style haute couture. This means that they want their style to stand out as the most fashionable and expensive clothes on the market. For a visual, you can imagine high fashion pictorials in Vogue and mostly in any European spread. That is where you wouldn’t typically go for shopping in that style.
Here are some of the weirdest and craziest trends that I have seen this year:
- Twisted Bun Hawks: Marc by Marc Jacobs decided to take a spin on the traditional schoolgirl buns and combine it with the tough image of a rocker, which results in a faux hawk consisting of buns. I’m sure this would be a fun experiment to try on your younger sister or for fun at a sleepover, but I’m not sure anyone would last in public for the whole day with this look. Not to mention the time it would take to put this look together…pass!
- Messy Glitter Eyes: I am all about highlighting the eyes to make them look brighter and hide those ugly under-eye bags, but this trend may not be the answer to that problem. Anna Sui ventured into this look for Fashion Week and it honestly looks like her daughter could have splattered glitter around her eyes before she left for the show.
- Hair Words: The Blonds have been a very controversial subject in fashion this year and their hair accessories are not left out. This isn’t like the trend where boys started by shaving designs into their hair; it is almost the opposite. You have a hair piece made for you from hair that is constructed into a word and then you stick it on your head. Again, too much effort and not enough good feedback for me to consider.
