On Wednesday April 13 from 12 to 4 p.m. Sigma Alpha Epsilon hosted ‘Angry Bros’ in the Bixler-Botwinik Quad. As a play on the Angry Birds game, students could buy water balloons to throw at SAE brothers who hid behind cardboard boxes set up in the forms of castles. It was $1 for 3 balloons, $3 for 10 balloons, and $5 to dump a bucket of ice water on any of the brothers.
“It was great seeing a game from the digital world coming to life in a creative way,” says freshman Stephanie Pratt. The brothers of SAE found a creative way to raise money for their chapter by involving the campus in a real life video game. “As a sister of Alpha Sigma Alpha, I know how difficult it is to come up with new ideas to raise money and I was impressed with the way they twisted a classic video game into an interactive event,” Pratt continued.
The event presented a great opportunity for the brothers of SAE as well as the campus community to laugh and have a good time. The event raised money to support the UNH chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. “Angry Bros was not only one of the best ways to bond with my brothers, but it was also a great way to raise money for our chapter,” SAE brother Nash Khairi said.
The day was filled with laughter and mischief as UNH students paid to pelt their friends with water balloons or dump ice water on them. A great time was had by all as both the brothers of SAE and the entire UNH community were brought closer together. “Angry Bros was one of my favorite events so far that SAE has put on and I’m so glad I got to participate in it this year,” SAE brother Jeremy Bellman said. For him, it also joined old memories with new memories as he remembered an experience from his Charger Day. “I came out a year ago to my Charger Day and it was being held and when I saw the event it was such a fun and awesome time that really made me want to be a part of it if I ever got into SAE, and that wish came true,” Bellman said.
The event was a huge success, with perfect weather for an afternoon of fun and water balloons. Bellman sums it up saying, “It was a beautiful day for people to come out and throw some water balloons at some SAE brothers behind cardboard forts and castles!” It was a fun time for all that will be remembered for a while.
