In this day and age there aren’t a lot of roller skating rinks around and definitely not available on campus. So isn’t it nice when SCOPE brings the roller skating rink to the students? You bet it is, and that’s exactly what they did. On Thursday, April 19 in the German Club, SCOPE’s Special Events put together a roller skating rink inside the building. It was so cool that almost a hundred people came out to participate.
SCOPE prepared everything. When students walked in, music was playing, the roller rink floor was set up, and students could pick their size skates. After students laced up their skates, they rolled onto the floor and that’s when the fun really started. Some students were really good as if they had been roller skating since they were two. It was awesome watching some students do turns and tricks on the floor and dance along with the music provided. But those weren’t the best moments of the night.
The best moments of the night were watching the students that weren’t necessarily very good at roller skating. They were holding onto friends trying to keep their balance as they tried to get onto the floor. And then there was falling and laughing and trying to get back up and more laughing. The students were having a good time trying their hardest at something new, and they were enjoying themselves even though they probably walked out of the German Club with a few more bruises than they walked in with.
Every student that showed up had a great time at something that they don’t get to do very often anymore. That’s what SCOPE is here for right… to bring fun to campus.
