LOWELL, Mass. – The University of New Haven men’s soccer team dropped a Northeast-10 Conference contest at the Univerrsity of Massachusetts Lowell, 1-0, Saturday afternoon. The Chargers fell to 0-5-2 overall and 0-4 in NE-10 play. The River Hawks improved to 3-4 overall and 3-2 in conference action.
The Rivers Hawks’ and the game’s only score came in the 47th minute. A through ball found the foot of Mohammed Saeed who chipped the all over goalkeeper J.J. Comeau (Wallingford, Conn./Mark T. Sheehan ) just over one minute into the second half.
The Chargers tallied three first half shots on goal and four second half shots on frame. Eric Robertson (Stratford, Conn./Stratford) led the Chargers with three shots, including two shots on goal. Firmiano Ribeiro (Barreiras, Brazil/B.M.C. Durfee / Franklin Pierce University) added two shots on goal, while Joseph D’Antonio (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside ) talleid four shots. Comeau added two saves in all 90 minutes.
New Haven led 8-4 in corner kicks and 15-13 in total shots in the game.
New Haven returns to action on Tuesday, September 27 when it hosts American International College at Kayo Field. Game time in West Haven is set for 4 p.m.
