WEST HAVEN–On Sunday, Sept. 14, RECSports literally kicked
off Season One sports with outdoor soccer. On a hot and muggy Sunday, students
came out to Kayo field to play an afternoon full of games in the Co-REC and Men’s
Divisions. Hopefully it will cool off a little for next week’s games. For all
of those students playing, humid or not, remember to hydrate.
Sunday’s soccer games were a great start to Season 1.
RECSports Grad Assistant, Andrea Keefe would like to compliment all the teams
for good sportsmanship. The teams played good games while keeping it fun. Thank
you to all who participated.
Of the many games on Sunday one ended in a tie with the
Bandits, 80’s Babies, Golden Legs, Jon’s Lunch, and Bangin’ Bulldogs claiming
one win a piece. The Bandits and the 80’s Babies deserve high praise for
fighting through the heat and playing well despite having to play back-to-back
games at one point.
Outdoor soccer will be played every Sunday for the next few
weeks, with regular season ending on Sunday, Oct. 5. Play-offs will follow. To
keep track of how the teams are doing and who is looking good for play-offs
check out the “Outdoor Soccer Standings” which are posted on the RECSports’
bulletin board located across from the Equipment Issue Desk in the
The standings will be updated every Friday.
The rest of Season One’s sports were played throughout the
week from Monday to Thursday at a jam packed
all of the fans that came out and supported their favorite RECSports teams.
Look for future articles highlighting each of those sports. Also, check out the
RECSports bulletin board for more information on all Season One sports.
Lastly I would like to congratulate Jon’s Lunch for being
this week’s Participants of the Week.
