Random House, Inc., the lucrative publishing company, will be producing thousands of additional books in digital form.
The company announced their news Monday, Nov. 24 saying that the new releases will include novels by popular authors such as John Updike, as well as multiple volumes of the children’s series, The Magic Treehouse.
Random House already has 8,000 digitized books, and their additions are planned to augment their collection to 15,000 books in digital format. The new books are expected to take just a few months to complete.
Although e-book sales have nearly tripled in 2008, digital books continue to make up only one percent or less of the total industry.
