Chargers,
The first week of school is over. You went to class, met your professors, and hopefully had some fun along the way. I know you’re probably sad that the week is over, but I have good news for you; next week is a whole new week with new exciting opportunities for growth.
A few years ago I saw a RedBull ad that said “nobody ever wishes they’d slept more during college,” and while I’m not a fan of RedBull, I always remembered their message. You can interpret it however you want, but in my opinion, I took it to mean don’t miss out on a potentially exciting opportunity just because staying in bed watching Netflix is the easy, comfortable option. It may sound cliché, but step outside your comfort zone, you just might enjoy the atmosphere. And if you don’t, your bed and Netflix will be there the next night. So really, you have nothing to lose.
During your second week of classes, expand your horizons and try something new; try something scary; try something that makes you feel uncomfortable. For it is while we are discovering the unknown that we learn about ourselves. If nothing else, that’s what college is for- to learn about yourself; to discover yourself; to be yourself. I wish you the best of luck discovering yourself–your true self.
Sincerely,
James Kielar
