Panthers defeat Chargers in first Field Hockey game
In their opening game of the 2021 season, the Chargers Field Hockey team held their own against Adelphi University that bolstered two returning All-Americans.
Senior Alexis Rider broke the scoring stalemate two minutes into the second half on an assist from senior Julia Battino, who intercepted the Panthers’ clearance and found Rider at the arc who capitalized on her opportunity.
Throughout the game, The Chargers continued to have opportunities to find the back of the cage but were shut down by Panthers’ goalie Amanda Montiel who registered two saves.
The Chargers were unable to hold on as the Panthers scored in the 44th minute. Nine minutes later, they secured their second, game-winning goal.
Chargers goalie Keira Integlia registered three saves on the evening, conceding only two.
The Chargers return to DellaCamera Stadium on Sunday when they host Saint Anselm College with the match starting at 3:30 p.m. A live stream of the game will be available on the Charger Sports Network.
