WEST HAVEN, Conn. – The University of New Haven football team hosted its annual Spring Scrimmage Saturday afternoon at Ralph F. DellaCamera Stadium. For the nearly 500 in attendance, the Chargers put on an intersquad scrimmage which pitted the “blue team” against the “white team.”
The voices of Charger Football, Craig Mortali and Pat Ryan were the game’s guest coaches. Mortali, coach of the white team, came out on top with an 18-6 victory in the scrimmage which didn’t include extra point attempts. White team quarterback Ryan Osiecki and wide receiver Demetrius Washington-Ellison highlighted the scrimmage midway through the second quarter with a 70-yard touchdown connection which opened the game’s scoring.
The Chargers Spring Scrimmage concluded the team’s month-plus of spring practices on the UNH campus. New Haven opens the 2010 fall season on Saturday, Sept. 4 when they travel to Seton Hill University (Pa.) for a non-conference game at 3 p.m.
