The New Haven Chargers were defeated by Lasell College, 3 – 1, to remain winless at 0-4 on Friday. The Chargers, however,
did win their first set of the year, 25-23.
After losing the first set, 25-16, the Chargers returned with an impressive second set to tie the match at 1-1. With the score at 21-20, the Chargers put together numerous attacks and played excellent defense to finish on top 25-23.
The Chargers started out slow in the third set, trailing 0-10 before getting their first point. They finished the set with 11 points. The Chargers would go on to lose the fourth set as well, 19-25. Despite the loss, the match was fairly close and competitive and included numerous aces from Junior Benjamin Hollies.
Coach Eddie Stawinski remains winless as the Chargers’ Men’s volleyball coach. The win puts Lasell College at 6-5 and leaves New Haven winless at 0-4. The Chargers’ next match will be at home on February 25 against Albertus Magnus College at 7:00 p.m.
