The men’s basketball team suffered a close loss to Dowling College in overtime with a score of 77-73 during their opening game on Sunday, Nov. 11.
Senior Jeremy Williams led the team by scoring a game-high 22 points. Williams made eight out of 16 field goals, three out of six three pointers, and three out of five free throws. Jeffry Adkins totaled 14 points and made three out eight field goals. He also led the team in free throws, making eight out of 11 shots.
Eric Anderson totaled 12 points, and teammate Cyrus James scored nine points total. Teammates Justin Exum and Ashanti DePass both totaled eight points for the Chargers.
Defensively, Adkins led the Chargers with five turnovers, one block and two steals. Williams had three turnovers, one block and two steals. Anderson recorded two turnovers and two blocks defensively. Exum had one turnover, one block and two steals for the Chargers defense. DePass and freshman Joshua Guddemi each had one turnover for the team.
With the close, the team falls to 0-1 overall, and 0-0 in the NE-10. The team will travel to Albany, N.Y. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, for a 7:30 p.m. game against the College of Saint Rose. The Chargers return home on Sunday, Nov. 18, to host Queens for a 4 p.m. game.
