BOSTON, Mass. – The University of New Haven men’s cross country team finished in 12th place at the 2011 NCAA Division II East Region Championship at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. Sunday. The Chargers totaled 372 points and tied Saint Michael’s College in 12th place.
Senior Matthew Dunham (Kingston, N.Y./Saugerties) led the team in his final cross country meet of his career. He posted a time of 33:27.0 and finished in 39th place overall. Timothy Nohelty (Manchester, Conn./Manchester) was second on the team with a time of 34:07.8 and placed 57th in the race. Rounding out the top five finishers for UNH was Arnold Lane (Elmsford, N.Y./Alexander Hamilton) in 80th place with a time of 34:53.3, Matthew Eder (East Brunswick, N.J./South Brunswick) in 83rd place with a time of 34:54.4, and Michael Barile (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) with a time of 36:03.6 in 113th place. Marvin Azor (Brooklyn, N.Y./Scirence Skills Center) also ran for the Chargers and finished with a time of 38:11.9 in 143rd place.
The Chargers concluded their 2011 fall season with the regional meet.
